The Pro3 filter sounds nice. A sump with high GPH and the intake & outlet at opposite ends would give you nice 'river' flow across the tank

im so excited its all i can think about and talk to my wife about LOL. so many plans so little time LOL

so, these are my ideas.

1) a african landscape complete with a few african looking trees with moss as my leaves. and even some bare tree type wood to mimmick a couple dead trees.

slanted rocks that look similar to those rocks lions sleep on and view there surroundings.

starting low in the front with gradual up hill to the back and make appearence of mountains in the back.

ground cover would be HC with micro swords placed randomly to give the appearence of bushes.

2) A mangrove type look with root systems and low light low tech plants like moss and anubias's with a few rocks and getting some yellow and blue cichlids maybe 3 pairs to avoid fighting and such.


im toying with the idea of keepinf my 46 gallon and running a co2 line to the new tank using a manifold and seperate needle valve and bubble counter.

benefits of low tech would be no need to remove 50% of 180 gallons weekly and i can keep it simple. just a shame though becuae of the light included would be great for high light. so so torn

I figured I would follow the same as my 46 gallon just on a bigger scale.

180 gallons of water is a lot more stable than 46. I also don't buy into the 50% water change for any tank except for my reef tank when I neglect it for weeks. but it's only a 12g tank.

I don't intend on changing 62.5 gallons of water out weekly for my 125 that will be "high tech/light". I have a 30g plastic trash can that will be utilized for getting water prepared, so that is the most i'll be changing out at a time, and probably doing so weekly only because of the ease that my setup allows it to be done.

the larger the tank, the less water maintenance I think.

Yes swords get large; too large for most tanks.

Most stem plants grow rapidly when enhanced with CO2 and the tank owner would be spending lots of time trimming. Just reaching certain parts of a tank this large becomes an issue, so you would want to minimize the challenge. At least, I would.

Yes! A few hundred cardinals in that tank would look amazing.

My most recent great deal was a free, curb find 75 gallon tank two summers ago. This tank has since produced about 100 baby sterbais and as of this week, a 100 or 150 Tapajos Red Head fry!

That is a nice find. You're about as excited as I was when I found a 200g for $160 So many way to go with that size tank its hard to finalize a plan. I've had mine for 2 months already and I'm STILL planning on what to do. You're way ahead of me because you got a cabinet, lighting and all the goodies, whereas I just got the tank.....
