Newbie on First Nano Tank

Hi guys, I had finally collect enough equipments and stuff in order to start a planted nano tank. Since this is the first nano tank, so I would like to seek help and advice from you guys here!

I had bought:
1. 1ft cube tank
2. ADA 5 elements and Bacter Ball
3. HOB filter
4. 11w Aquarium Light
5. ADA Amazonia Soil
6. ADA Power Sand
7. Tools (scissor and tweezers)
8. A relatively big rock (not sure what type of rock, got it from a LFS)
9. Disposable type CO2 supply

I poured ADA 5 elements and followed by ADA power sand on the base of the aquarium. Top it up with soil and settle down the rock. However, I'm unsure of how the hardscape should be as I don't think I'm any good with creativity. Anyways, do let me know how should i position the rock as shown on pictures below.

Sorry for the ugly hardscape but do comment so I could do better. Up to this point, I have yet to purchase any plants because I'm not really sure what is suitable for the tank and a newbie. I do like igwami stype tanks but not sure what type of carpet plants is suitable for me. What would you guys recommend?

You kidding me? I love that stone! I think you need something else, I don't know what. It is tough with cube sized aquariums in my opinion.

But if I would have saw that stone for sale, I would have grabbed it in an instant.

Aww. Thanks. Got it for like rm13 or 4usd? what else do I need? for my hardscape or my equipments? ah, I love cube sized aquariums. haha. do not have any clue on what i should do next.

i like the rock sticking up high like in picture A.
maybe it would look nice if the rock was off centered though?

if you can find other rocks that would go well with you big one then you could stick them in and see what they look like together...but i think the one you have in there alone looks simplistic and just fine

Geez, thanks. haha. It's really hard to find smaller rocks which would go well with the big one. Anyways, which is easier for beginner carpet type plant?

Nice simple hardscape!

You won't get those to grow as a beginner carpeting plant.

My advice? Get a ton of small stones. Tie moss on them, then arrange them so they're spaced about an inch part each.

Put Xmas or mini Xmas on them. As it grows out, you'll have a carpet which is the envy of many low techers.
