Algae ID???

Hey guys, can someone please identify which type/types of algae I have going on in my aquarium? I thought it was diatoms initally so I bought a new bulb and increased my light duration slightly. This is a 55 gallon tank which has been up and running for about 7 months. Here they are....

And last but not least, mostly just for fun....

I think that is green dust algae that has matured and turned to its brown stage, that is the time to remove it. That is what mine looked like when I left it on the glass for a month or so.

I remember reading an article about it by Tom Barr

Almost all of it started as a light brown, what i thought to be diatoms. Only few smaller sections are green, or were ever green.

Whats the texture, does it rubb off when rubbed with a finger? If you have some excel see if you can spot treat a section with the filters off then turn them back on after 10 minutes.

What lights you got running on that thing? How many hours?

It rubs off when you use your nail, or magfloat. But it comes off into dust, the red even into a red dust storm in the tank. I run one T5 HO 56 Watt for about 8 hours each day.

Try reducing photo period to 6 hours. That is what I did, and scrapping the glass equipment, it hasn't come back or has been reduced greatly.
