So Quick Update
Driftwood STILL isnt sinking but It sure feels more waterlogged... I have a feeling it was sittint out of the water for a LOOOONG time. I am going to order my substrate next week.

STILL waiting for it to sink. I think I might have to do something about it.

Whats the easierst way to make it sink. I would like to avoid screwing it to a piece of metal if possible.

Still Floating. Going to have to find alternate way to get it to sink.
Fishing line on a rock should be fine right? It would be in places that would be covered by moss anyway?

Fishing line and tupperware lids buried in the substrate are how I weighed down my driftwood, so that should be a good option.

what substrate are you using? also i highly suggest to not use any aquarium backrounds. you can if you want to, just my opinion though

I am about to try that because it still floats lol. so the tupperware lid... you just cover it with the substrate and it will hold it down? Good because I DO want to get it started. I want to have it running for 3+ months to get everything balanced and lots of biofilm for them to eat :-)

Well... She is finally set up... My pride and joy. I am so excited to get plants and then my shrimp. Im picking up two Ottos today. It sounds like I need to let the biofilm grow for a couple months before its ready for shrimpies so the Ottos will keep it cycled. Question for anyone tho... Is that actually true? Or can I get them now?

I have 2 things left to get for my tank... A dropcheckerand a tds meter.

I like your setup, that is one nice piece of driftwood. I used to have that same exact background pic on my 29 gallon years ago... Bring back memories! lol
