Timer recommendations for my lights?
Can anyone recommend good quality timer for my aquarium lights?
I've had bad experiences with some I've bought in the past. It needs to be 3 prong. Thanks! |

I picked up 2 @ home depot a few months ago. $10- each, work good. Forget brand though. Its the ole dial one you can set for down to 20- 30 min intervals.

Marineland has a good one. It's called an "Aqua Timer". They're about $10.00 or so online. I use this brand on all my tanks. B

I upgraded to a digital Stanley timer...so far so good. It accepts three prong cords. Easy to program, up to 8 progs. Havent seen it perform when power goes out but it has battery backup. I got tired of messing with the analog ones.

I just use ones I got at Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/lamp-an...mer-40148.html. It has 2 - 3 prong outlets. Cost me about $4 (when on sale). Been working good for almost 1 yr now.
I like them because I can set 2 different tanks to have the lights come on early, then the other timer has the 2 tank lights come on about 30-45 mins later. |

I highly recommend any timer with a battery backup. This way here you don't have to reset if there is a power outage. The Stanley digital ones are good. Replaced the three i have on my tank with them a few years ago. They are a bit more than the analog ones, but worth it IMO.
