Best Heaters....and GO!
It's been a while since my last post, sorry guys, but here is a new question to start my year off with!:
A few years ago (2011) my favorite inline heaters died.....so i bought some replacement heaters which lasted about a year or right up to warranty end period then died.....so i bought another set and they did the same thing......My two current ones just now died, mid winter and yes BOTH of them died..... My tank is 125 gallon, 6 feet long about 18" wide.... What is the best heater you guys like to use? I dont want an inline heater anymore because my current setup doesnt allow it, as in, i dont have easy access to the back side of the aquarium where the tubes pass through....But i would prefer a heater with an external dial....but at this point, i just really want a heater that is going to last, i dont care if its salty..... your suggestions and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I like my eheim jager, but I surprisingly love my aqueon pro heaters - I have found them to be reliable and really user friendly

I have an Aqueon Pro also, and it has been a fantastically reliable and easy to use heater. I hear how great Jagers are, and I'm torn on which to get when I start replacing my other, cheap heaters.

I've had good luck with the Petsmart house TopFin brand heaters of every wattage I've used. Even heating, reliable temp setting, reliable shutoff.
What I will say is avoid eBay heaters. That may be the most important thing you could do, lol. |

These heaters were the best on the market when I was a little kid. Yup, more decades ago than I'd care to admit to. Not many things in this hobby have been around that long, much less maintained their reputation just as long. The only thing that's been an issue for me is the bigger sizes. They are just long. I have had to to use titanium tubes on controllers in a couple of systems using sumps that just wouldn't accomodate the 300W Jagers. Other than that I have 15 of them running in the fish room. |

Catalina Aquarium Solidstate heaters. I have had no issues with the one i have been running for 3 years now it has an outside dial as you were looking for. Its at least worth checking out!

Just wanted to update this real quick. I wanted to say thanks for the recommendation for the Eheim Jager heaters. I bought two of them and my water is now always between 78.5 and 79.0, has yet to fluctuate any farther from that! So needless to say, im a very happy camper!
Thanks!!! |

the old eheim jager if u can get ur hands on them. the new ones arent as good as the old ones. after using jager for years i switched to aqueon pro and so far i like it better then the jagers. and it also looks better then jager its black so it kinda blends in with your background if its black
