Ehiem Pro 3e 2074
I'm looking to buy an ehiem pro 3e. I was gonna get the 2078 but learned I would need to spend about 150 extra bucks on media! The filter its self is $314. The 2074 is $279 media included. I have a 55 long tank. Should I spend the extra money or will the 2074 be enough.

I bought just the Eheim pro 3... (not the e) because it also came with the media and I definitely felt i did not need to added extra for it to be electronic

I have a 2076 running under my 40G now. And I would vote to get the regular pro3 as well. I keep mine on manuel mode all the time. From my experience, if you have those extra hook ups like reactor and inline heater, the motor will self adjust the flow and won't run on its full power.

You don't have to use Eheim's media. Seachem Matrix works just as well, IMO, and is a lot less expensive. You could fill a 2078 with $50-$75 worth of Matrix. I have a 2076 also in addition to a 2075 and I don't find much use for the "e" features either and run mine in manual mode. I would buy the largest regular Pro 3 your budget allows if you're set on a Pro 3.

Nonono. I meant you should go for the pro3( 2073,2075), not the pro 3e( 2074,2076). Or just save yourself some money and go for a 2017. |

Well got the 2074 any way used it for two weeks now I'm returning it. Useless e features. I'm getting a ecco pro I believe its 2234 and a jbj 45 for the same price. I'm going to do a side by side on the two. Should have listened. Thanks to all

I actually got an eheim 2071 for a 55g to supplement a hob filter. In upgrading i got rid of the hob filter and was gonna get a 2075 but i read some leaking reviews that worried me. I got an aquatop cf500 and whoa! I am very pleased and spent half the price. 500+ gph
