Zebra nerite snails look sick. Any suggestions?
I recently ordered 6 zebra nerite snails through the mail with some fishes. When I first recieved the package all the bags seemed cold to the touch. But all the fishes survived but did look a little shocked at first. But my snail were all just hiding inside their shell. After acclimating them to the temp and drip acclimating the snails I put them in my tank but still didn't see any move. I thought they might just be scared from the shipping. After 24 hours only 3 moved but not far and were either turnt upside down or sideways with their bodies sticking out a bit. When I poke them they do go back into hiding in their shells. So I went to my lfs and got 1 tracked nerite as they were the only one they had. The tracked nerite seems to be doing fine and moving about the tank. Did I just receive a bad batch if zebra nerites or is something wrong with them? I have read that some nerites go into hibernation with change in temp but not sure if this is true. Anyone ever experience this? 75 gal Tank parameters 76degrees, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, ~ 20ppm nitrate, injected co2 but no ferts yet.

What is your substrate like? When I first got my nerites they HATED my aquariumplants.com's substrate, but were fine on sand and smooth stones. After a little while the ones with aquariumplant's substrate would finally move about on it, but were very unlikely to stay there. The sand and smooth stone bottoms were easily traversed by my snails. They might still be in shock from transit, but mine moved within 2 days of arrival.

they are nocturnal from what i've read. Mine were active about a week out and tend to hide when lights are on.

they should be OK unless their water conditions are something they don't like. then they hide for loooooonnng periods of time and only come out when they need to. In one of my tanks, the scuds were bothering them like crazy and when I reduced the scuds population, tney became more active. If they like the conditions of your tank, they should come out soon in 2-3 days (my opinion) unless there is something about your set up they just don't like
