Mosses idea?
Hello everyone! I was thinking of doing my 5g hex into an all moss tank. I was thinking of doing flame moss carpet and then doing a Christmas moss background on 2-3 panels of the hex. And then I would house RCS. I have a 15w fluorescent light on tank now. The tank is a marinland hex 5g and I want to keep the original top. So is this a good idea?

haha, I am planning something similar! =D I'm using willow moss for the wall tho!
I'm going to divide the 5 gallon and make the divider, and the side panels into moss walls as well =) cherries on one side, painted fire reds on the other. Its going to be a moss heaven! |

That sounds really interesting! Do you have a hex as well? I'm guessing not. And if you don't or do wont you need filtration on both sides otherwise one will get water taken out and the other will have water put in?

well the divider is going to be mesh so water can travel between the two. I haven't gotten the tank yet, but most likely not going to be a hex.

Ohh and then the moss can grow on both sides of the mesh and grow through it! That's an awesome idea! But I don't know if that will work for the baby shrimp to come? They are pretty small!

well i was hopping that the moss would be thick enough that the babies can't swim thru lol =D

Ohh then that might work. But I would let the moss grow out for awhile then add shrimp.

well the tank needs to cycle for a while before the shrimps can go in anyways =)
