Moss ID
I ordered mini Christmas moss, but this doesn't look like any pictures I've seen. Does this look like mini Christmas moss to anyone? It looks more like java moss to me.

Looks like Java Moss to me but that could also be many other mosses.....let it grow and you'll be able to quickly decipher. Java Moss grows the quickest.

Let it grow and take a close up photo of the fronds and post.
The best way to identify a moss is by their fronds. It is important to ask for photo before you buy and compare the moss you are buying on aquamoss.net I bought christmas moss twice in a row in the past only to find out they were christmas moss. Ive seen moss sold most of the time as Christmas or Singapore but they are peacock. or peacock moss as taiwan. The IDs got all mixed up when one seller pass the wrong ID to another and it multiplies. Thats why I make sure that I grow my moss with correct species. I grow Taiwan, Peacock, Singapore, Christmas. mini christmas, fissidens, etc.

Thanks, Herns. I bought this from an aquatic plant nursery. They had loads of photos of each type of moss. Mine looks nothing like their photos of Christmas moss.

Christmas and mini-christmas moss looks very much the same. Especially if mini christmas is grown in the right condition. Mini has the same shape of fronds than the regular theyre just smaller thats why the name comes from.
