Canister!?!?!?! Need Advice

So my 2217 came into my LFS today and they called to tell me it was in, however they also mentioned that it was damaged during shipping and the actual canister part was cracked, or something on it was broken, so they returned it and said i can try again or i can get a refund, i opted for a refund. Filter i'm talking about is an ehiem 2217, ment for my 40.

Today i went to petsmart to pick up some more pellets and there i saw a fluval 206, as well as a lot more, i'm actually consiering getting one, whats your guys take on this? should i go for it? i would be paying $119 for a 206 as opposed to like $150 for a 2217. I know the common complaint about the hoses but i dont plan on really moving it to different tanks and such so there wouldn't be a ton of stress on the hoses. Also my local hardware store probably carries similar sized hoses and such, Petsmart also carries a lot of replacement parts.

Thanks in advance

I actually read that thread a few days ago, i like all the comments on ehiem but i'd like some input on the fluval aspect to it, it seems to be heavily ehiem dominated, heck even i posted i liked ehiem, however i've never had a fluval before. I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on the 206, or mabey even higher.... The largest thing is i dont want this to be a waste of over $100, that would really really stink.

just get an eheim 2217 like you originally thought of getting. they are dead silent and if properly taken care of, they can last for a long time. quick disconnects on the hoses are really helpful too. you will not regret it!

I have a 306 on my 40b. I've had the filter for a while now and have no issues and very easy to maintain. The ribbed hoses are a non issue and I get plenty of flow. I bought it from petsolutions for about $109 with free shipping

Maybe the Fluval is tempting you because you can walk in and buy it, rather than wait for it to be shipped. If the Eheim and the Fluval were sitting next to each other on the same counter, which would you really take home? There's your answer!

I have 2 205's and a 206, and a FX5 and I like them. I never owned any other canister besides fluval ones so I couldn't offer a comparison, how ever you can get the 205's for like 86 bucks off amazon, sitting side beside there is little difference between the 205 and the 206.

Picked up the Fluval 206, i didn't feel like ordering online, plus we were going to Petsmart today, so i got it, so far so good, i don't like the fact that you have to cut the tubing to fit the input and output, i cut one too long and hardly had enough for the input.
