Interesting. I would think it would have to be in stupid amounts to do any difference.

Interesting light, but so much PAR. I wonder if I could make one that would give about 100 PAR at substrate level and then mix it with a dimmer. That way you could move between a low tech and high tech setup without having to change out your light. Just increase the intensity.

Do these lights put out any shimmer, I have the 48" finnex ray 2 on my 75 and I get no shimmer very disappointing

![]() and just for the heck of it a CRI93 ![]() The problem, of course, is that I have no idea whether this is better or even as good for aquarium plants as the CRI 74 preconfigured setup they have. ![]() I seem to recall a page that showed what light worked with plants but I can't find it. |

You need water movement on the surface of the water to get shimmer.

For anyone who has just one of these suspended over the middle of your tanks, would you mind sharing whether you have a good spread of light front to back (at all aquarium heights)? It seems like with just one strip one might end up with high PAR in the middle but low par in the front and back at the substrate level.
How does one of these planted fixtures compare in PAR to the finnex Ray 2? |

Neat idea. It is fun to play with the calculator, I maxed the CRI all the way to 97.

I've had a 24" fixture over my ADA 60f for about 3 months now. I used a combo of the royal blue, red, and green LEDs with the 5700k:
W W W B G R W W W B G R W W W (W=5700k, B=470 Blue, G=Green, R=660 Deep Red) The green brought the color closer to 9000K and away from the pinkish color (which I hate). I have it dimmed to 30-50% and 12" above my tank (45-degree optics), and my plants have been happy--really happy actually. The RCS look fantastic, too. At first, there was a slight disco effect, but oddly, it went away. Overall, great service from Nick, great product; I'm very happy with it. |
