ferts dosage - suggestions?
currently, my tank holds 6.5 gallons of water.
stats: PH - 7.6 NH - 0 NO2 - 0 NO3 - 0 GH - 9.8 79 degrees water fluval shrimp substrate If i read the directions right on the seachem i should dose 1mL flourish every 3rd day, and .5 mL carbon once/twice a week. i have "onion" plants, sword chains and micro narrow leaf swords. Should i look at fert tabs? thanks, Jared |

I never really saw any benefit to fertilizer tabs. I have some swords and vals in my tank and I only dose liquid ferts.

You should be perfectly fine with liquid fertz but if you want to do root tabs, it won't hurt the plants. I dose liquid only on my plants which are almost identical to yours and they do amazing.

my sword chains are, of course, taking OFF the micro swords.. well, they aren't melting and they seem to be getting greener. they are slow growers i think. my "onion" plants won't stay rooted.. the bulbs keep floating free even with weights attached. i am probably going to replace them.
next question: any reason i should not mix my flourish and trace when i dose them? could i also mix excel at the same time on days when they overlap? i was thinking of making up a mixture 50-100 mL at a time and then just sucking the 1'ish mL i dose out of that, instead of pouring it into each cap, sucking up the little i need via syrnge and then pouring the rest back in.. |

I'm not sure what affect that would have if you mixed all the ferts and excell together...I'm not a chemist haha. I would dose them separately/not mix them just to be on the safe side.
