Where to find wild plattys like this?
I was looking around today at aquabid, and while watching a video of some fish for sale I saw this video in a side link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=...ture=endscreen No one had any for sale on aquabid, but I would really really like to find some! Does anyone know where I could find them ??? Thanks, Drew |

I've seen a couple fish labeled as "variatus" in a store before. Nothing that looked like those fish.. the fish in that video are crazy looking.

I am pretty sure I have seen those on aquabid before. Just because they arent listed right now, keep looking...they might turn up. Or contact some of the sellers that seem likely to carry them and see what they can do.
I have to say too, i love videos like the one you posted! Seeing fish in their natural habitat is awesome, and something I dont see very often |

Thanks for the info everyone!!!
VisionQuest28, That is a AWESOME Sunfish you have in your Avatar!!! I have always wanted to do a Native Boitope, but I can never find that type of perch! Just Bluegills, Red Ears, and the normal ones we usually see around here! Where did you get him at? Do you have any more pics? Thanks Again! Drew |

That pic in my avatar was my dominant male. The crazy thing is, he was about 2.5" in that pic, and was really just starting to color up. I can only imaging what another few inches would have looked like on him. Unfortunately I lost all but one small, dull female. I made a move of about an hour and half, and i did it all with a uhaul and one friend. The fish sat in a 5g bucket for a day and a half. It turned out to be one of the longest days of my life (got a couch wedged and stuck so bad that it had to be destroyed to get free, and backed into a gas pump with the uhaul). Kind of a comical story, except for losing the fish. I lost them one by one after getting the tank set back. I am waiting to move again and then I would like to try again. I really enjoyed them. They were aggressive towards each other but seemed fine with other fish (that they couldnt eat). My male was best buds with a green neon swordtail. They were literally inseparable. And the smaller sword was the boss. lol |

FREAKIN AWESOME STORY, but with a SAD,SAD ENDING!!! Sorry you lost them!!!
There is a Pumpkin Seed that I have seen online before, but I don't remember where! It looked allot like yours, but was Bright Red/Orange, with blue "marbling" throughout it's body! I don't think it had as much of the marbling as yours in your Avatar, but either was they are both BEAUTIFUL!!! Don't worry about the sales name! I will find them some day! I first need to get my tanks I already have setup and running!!! LOL I have had a 40B running on my Kitchen floor for over 8 months!!! I have been using it as a holding tank for some plants I took out of my 55g when I dirted it! BUT I have the $ now for the structure of the stand I am going to build, so it "SHOULD" be at least on the stand frame running pretty soon!!! I bet a 40b or a 36" 65gal tank would be cool for a Perch setup! Do You have any more pics of them? If so PM me, as I would love to see them! That way we won't get this thread off topic too much!!! Thanks Again, Drew |
