Hi from the east of England

Hello my name is Bex

I'm new to the hobby. I started off last year when i was given a 30g tall tank and put two oranda in it. I soon realized that i needed a longer tank and more fish I kept on seeing a lot of beautiful aquascaped tanks on the net and thought i would like to try a planted tank. I've been looking lots of stuff up and this forum always seems to have lots of helpful and experienced people so i thought i would join.

I now have a 55g bowfront and four fancies and three apple snails. (I still have the 30g in the garage) I have got through many plants so far trying to find things that won't get plundered or eaten

I think i have finally found a nice layout and plants that will settle in and hopefully survive the goldfish. The Plants are

Anubias nana gold
Anubias barteri
Anubias wrinkle leaf
Java fern narrow leaf (cut right down due to algae)
Java fern windelov (also cut right down and growing back)
Echinodorus ozelot red (only babies x 3)
Echonodras hormani (i think that's how you spell it)
Cryptocoryne ciliata
Cryptocoryne balansae
Cryptocoryne willsii
Cryptocoryne parva
And another crypt i can't remember the name of.
And i have some erect moss growing some wood to add in once it had taken off.

I have about 2wpg (one t5 and two t8s) and i'm using seachems excel daily and root tabs. My lights are on 12/12 at the moment but i am thinking about reducing them as i seem to have every kind of algae known to man going on right now. I have a eheim 2217 canister filter and 5mm dorset pea gravel. Temp is usually between 18-20c, ph 7.6 and I have quite hard water.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and i look forward to picking some brains any advice welcome

They are very nice fish to watch. I'm hoping to do a walstad style project with my 30 tall and a some of small cold water fish but i have a lot to learn yet so i'm just going to stick with one tank at the moment
