Plants, Shrimp and Flourish Excel ?


Hiyas,

I've been changing my setup with my 8 gal tank.

Since my fluval small co2 cannister ran out... Can I use flourish excel to keep HC and some moss alive and growing ?

I don't see why not. I use metricide 14. Same thing but cheaper.$21 a gallon and you use less. You may see an adjustment period. What kind of co2 did you use?

For best health dont dose CO2 or Excel. Your moss will grow fine with out it. I think it is best to decide to have a shrimp tank with some low tech plants or a planted tank. Or do a Planted until you get your plants where you want them pull the CO2 or stop dosing excel and add shrimp

Are you saying any CO2 or excel flourish with shrimp is dangerous ?

Is there a page that has a list of low tech plants ?
I wanted a nice HC grass for the shrimps. Any other options ?

I would get the tank going how you want it and then throw shrimp in. Unless you are just doing RCS then you should be fine

Excel is shrimp-safe in my experience. I have triple dosed it in order to kill algae, and have had no problem with it killing shrimp. Even BKKs don't seem phased by it.

I would be more worried about the effects of CO2 on shrimp.
