How do you ship Large size Driftwood across the country? To be Precious from AZ to NY. A friend wants to send me this wood....which fits my next project...Size is:

36" - long
22" - tall
15" - wide

Weights roughly 10 lbs. Based on calculation via Ups ground cost is 120$ and Ups Parcel is 108$, which is insane. When you buy Wood, do you really pay that much just for shipping? I remember few years back I got a huge piece of wood from PC1 in trade and in the shipping label, Price was 20$ from CA to NY, I Cant figure it out how to get that kinda rate?
Any input is much appreciated.

Anything heavy or large sized costs a fortune with the postal service

Go FedEx, they're usually cheaper than ups. Or southwest air cargo.

I always use UPS for large packages, so I checked the price - roughly $112!! That is way higher than I expected. I'm sure it is the large box that makes it cost so much, not the weight. If the piece of wood is taken to a local UPS store they could tell you what the most economical shipping method would be.

You can ship by truck line too, but that can be very inconvenient, since they cater to people shipping a lot of stuff, not one box.

FedEx ground is going to be your cheapest way to ship it. Make the box as small as possible. Also, if you can ship it to the persons place of business.

Seems like Greyhound is the cheapest so far..38$ from Az to NYC.

I was going to recommend Greyhound as well, pretty great way to ship it just takes a bit longer. They only count weight usually where as UPS, FedEx, etc. count package size because that's space being used on a truck where more packages could fit. Shipping is ridiculous now-a-days!

I never knew you could ship large things (anything for that matter) through Greyhound - that's wild! I hope I remember that should I ever need it...

What is the pick-up routine for Greyhound shipments? Is it convenient for the person receiving the package, or does he have to drive 50 miles and into a very questionable neighborhood to get it? Convenience, like delivery to your door, always costs more.
