My experience with Black Diamond Sandblasting Sand **Pictures** Updated 2-21-2013


This post will be updated with my experience and pictures with Black Diamond Sandblasting Sand (20/40 grit). Please check back for updates as I go along

Post 2: The Beginning

Post 3: After a few hours

Post 4: Completed

My Setup:
-30gal Tank
- 1 50lb bag of Black Diamond Sandblasting Sand (20/40 grit) **No other substrate used**
- Fluval 405 Canister Filter
- Heater

Right after filling with water.

Film left dirt rings on the glass when filling with my 5gal water jug. Came right off with the Mag-Float

***Note*** Thoroughly rinse the Black Diamond!!!! I did not. I rinsed it for 5 minutes, whole bag at once. Which left me with the crap you see in the below pictures. But do not fret, it clears up with cleaning and attension. ( I was worried at one point lol)

Cleanup

Picture 1: Cotton Napkin and Colander I used to skim the floaters and film off

Picture 2 and 3: After Initial skimming

Picture 4,5 and 6: After 5hrs and filter running for 20min

After settling for a few hours a fine gray dust blank was covering the sand and making it took gray. I used a siphon and sucked it right up.
