First time tying moss to driftwood, did i fail or is it ok? (Pic)

Hey guys/gals,

this is my first time dealing with live plants, and i fell in love with the Fissidens Fontanus moss, i bought some, and here is my attempt at tying moss to my driftwood.

now the placement isnt exactly what i wanted, but my driftwood indents alot so i have no backing to tie the moss to in some spots..




what do you guys think? fail? or is it ok? i really really want my tank to look awesome, so this is a very detrimental move for my aquarium. i dont know how this stuff grows, so i just randomly placed it in spots.

Looks ok to me. I play a lot with my moss on sticks..

just fine - and the no backing moss is the better idea, it will attach itself directly to that driftwood.

Looks great and that piece of driftwood is the shiz! Next tank im doing will be going for the weeping willow as the main piece

Might I ask what you used to tie on that moss? I've got some driftwood begging for it and thinking of doing fissidens as well

Almost looks like dental floss. I would suggest thin clear fishing line (hard to tie) or brown sewing thread that is close to the color of the wood.

Thread isn't a bad idea....do you leave it holding the moss down or just until the moss grabs hold of the wood? Like Anubias'?

It only really needs to be there until the moss attaches, but I've found that the moss overgrows the thread and buries it so I leave it on there

Ok great thanks for the info! I'll probably just leave it on...don't want to move the driftwood if I don't have to.

Looks good to me. I like using Filament fishing line made by Power Pro. Come in Moss Green color easy to tie hard to cut need sharp sissors it blends in good to the plant and wood.
