What should I do with mischling shrimps?

Hi guys! First time I get my hands on "mischling" shrimps from scape club meeting. I never own any Taiwan bees before so what's next? The guy that have the shrimp says its F1 TB/CRS hybrids.

Picture cheers!

Obviously the only thing you can do is giving it to me so you don't mess up your CRS line =)
I used to have them and decide to give it away when I start with CRS and PFRS

You can breed them together to get a small percentage of Taiwan Bees. After, you can keep the F1 female Mischlings(assuming you have a male taiwan bee) and Taiwan Bees together to increase your percentage of producing more Taiwan Bees. You should have a separate tank for the F2 offspring that do not look like Taiwan bees(F2 mischling/crs/cbs). I think that's the general idea for keeping F1 mischlings. If there is anything wrong, please feel free to correct me =]

So what is the percentage if I keep them with my CRS?

Keeping them with CRS, you chance is almost nill. The TB gene will get diluted quick.

If you keep them on your own, basic genetics says you would get 1 TB, 2 more mischlings and 1 CRS for every 4 babies. Now of course basic mendel genetics works over time and averages, so you could more or no TB's for generations. Any babies born in the mischling tank that weren't TB would have to be taken out as there is no way to tell a mischling from a crs/cbs.

You could just sell them to me cheap so i could recoupe after my nymph attach on mine.... yes keep them seprate then you need to cull the babies that are not TB. put all those in another tank. It could take several generations of breeding to get TB. Out of 10 berried Mischling females in a all TB tank with all F1 female mischlings I got 5 TB on the first clutches. By 3 clutches I had about 25 babies out of 20 Michlings F1 females, well that is had until the damn dragonfly nymphs(15) snacked on them.

"Now of course basic mendel genetics works over time and averages"

+1 Excellent wording! Many people forget this and just assume it will be a perfect percentage every time!

That pesky math minor with a focus on probability and combinatorics still kicks in after 20 years. lol. Just like a coin toss, yes, it will be 50/50 over time. It may be 10 flips, it may be 10,000,000,000,000 flips before you get 50/50. Same with genetics, the 25/25/50 ratio happens over time as the number of iterations approaches infinity.
