Eheim 2213 modifications?
I just got it in the mail and have read about a media basket modification. people were talking about buying a lattice or something but I cant find out where. Also how does this effect the media? I know i will need new pads because the diameter increases without the basket. i would love to hear good media suggestions. My main reason for wanting to do this modification is to reduce the flow because right now it is pretty strong in my 10g I bought it for haha. Thank you.

a 2213 in a 10 gallon is a little overkill haha. I have mine in a 36 gallon.

I ran a 2213 on a 5 gallon. Its fine on a 10 gallon. I'd say its about right. Just turn the disconnects on the outflow a little. In a few months when it slows down turn them back a little.

It all depends on what kind of plants you have and what flow you are looking for. I've heard of many people using a 2217, (2213's older brother by 2) on a 20 gallon just fine. You just moderate the ammount of flow by the disconnects on the outflow.

Also I am subbed to your mini-S thread. where are the updates?! haha. Quote:
Thanks for the replies everyone. Also on a another note. Supposedly the media basket has some water that will bypass the media filter by going around the basket. So it was just a thought if I could find that little lattice for sale somewhere. |

I'll take some pics today. I broke the S down and the M is still growing emersed. So not a lot of action yet.

Obsessed? Maybe

I don't think you'll need to modify anything. Just use quick disconnects to meter the flow a tiny bit.
I use a 2213 on my 10gal (used it previous on an Ebi) and it's perfect with a spray bar.
