Ok. Before I forget I came up with a good idea to clean the tubes.
Going to walmart or place that sells gun cleaning kits. The one that would mostly apply to us would be the 12 gauge kit but for a variety it's best to get full kit for different tubes etc...

This link is just an example. Also, if you've never used one the cleaning rod made to go down the barrel is usually made from brass and is pretty stiff. But the great thing is you can shorten or lengthen them to fit your application! The metal brush I would think would be safe for ribbed tubing because its made for a rifle barrel and its used to avoid damage to the rifling. For soft straight tube the cloth would work too. A patch can be placed around the brass bristled too to avoi damage.
