Help me choose a prize for my Contest

I just broke 1000 subscribers on youtube and want to give back to my viewers with a contest and prize. For the top prize I want to give away a nano tank (the competition will be make a video on what you would do with a new tank). I'm trying to balance quality with my budget. I don't want to give someone a piece of junk but also need to make sure I can buy my beer for the rest of my senior year in college. Where do you all think the best option lies?


Personally, I am not a fan of the internal power filters which is what most of the "cheaper" set-ups run. The overall best value I can see is the Marina Hagen 5g at the bottom but that'll run $50 so that's a bit rough (but doable).


If anyone has other suggestions they would also be greatly appreciated

I'd skip all of those and go with a Mr. Aqua of some sort. These "kits" are almost always overpriced and not so great.

Marine Depot has a few different options. You can do a bowfront, standard rectangle or even a cube. 3gal bowfront is $26.99, 7.5gal bowfront is $41.99, 11.4gal rectangle is $46.99, 12" cube is $49.99.

Or piece together your own kit from a local shop. Standard 10gal Deep Blue Professional tank, glass top and substrate can all be purchased for about $30-$35. Could add an HOB and still be under $50 and would have a much nicer "kit" than you can get elsewhere.

Assembling my own kit would be the best way if I was going to do it for myself but I will be shipping it out again which will probably cost another $20. So that's why I was looking into something I can have directly sent to the winner of the contest.

I'll look into the Mr. Aqua tanks too and see what I can pull up. Thanks amigo

If you went with Mr. Aqua, you could also get a filter from the same site. Or just do the tank and substrate or the tank, since it'll be fancy, and let the winner get the rest of the goodies they want.

This is the best of the bunch. The filter is quality. The light sucks but can easily be swapped for a small CFL.

That's exactly what I was thinking. A 13 or 15w 6500k CFL would be perfect for a nano tank. That's what I did with my 5g.

And that's exactly what I would recommend to the winner.
