New to the hobby from Minnesota
Hi everyone, I'm Josh and I'm new to fish keeping as a whole. As soon as I saw nature aquariums and aquascaping I was instantly hooked! I currently have a 30 gal brackish with 3 green spotted puffers and a couple bumblebee gobies. A 75 gal with 3 Koi, 3 pink convict cichlids and a pleco. And I just started up my first 10 gal planted with 4 German blue rams. Lastly i have a 75 gal that I am slowly piecing together everything I need to do a nice planted setup. All of my fish are kind of mixed up temporarily till i get the 75 gal planted together and house the German blues in there with some other new fish I have yet to choose. Here are some picture of the 10 gal I just set up. This is my first attempt at a planted tank. I still need to get a co2 setup on it. So far I got a few seiryu stones, some dwarf hair grass and a couple other plants. I used Eco complete for the substrate and have 2 Zoo Med Daylight CFLs. I will post some pics later, I'm not sure why it wont let me right now.
Thanks, Josh |

Stop. Get a pond or give away those koi. I think a world of fish will take them. Do you shop there?

I planted each plant with just the roots in the substrate. Should I have gone about it different?

Welcome. Nice start to your tank. Where else in MN to you shop for your fish? Have you tried Tropiquatics in North St. Paul? They always have some different fish that your dont normally see. A great variety of Apistos and Killifish. Also Forest Lake Pets is a great place to head on the weekend. World of Fish is always nice, but the owner Ted is getting ridiculous with his prices.

I love Tropiquatics, thats where I got the seiryu stones for this tank. Its nice that its so close to where I live. And as far as world of fish, I agree, its so far from me with high prices I go there every couple months to sight see. |

I'll be there this April for a plant talk BTW at MAS. Would be wise to come and and you'll learn 10X easier vs the internet.

Thanks for the info on MAS, proof that forums can be somewhat helpful. I'm a sponge for knowledge on all of my hobbies. To have an event where I can learn from the pros, I can't wait!
