Took the driftwood out cuz it was leaching tannins non stop and was a soft wood.


Current state that I am happy with and hopefully no more rescapes for the time being.

Updates? Did you get the new fixture yet? The tank is off to a nice start....just needs some height in the background to start covering up the planters....but it looks like the plants were just trimmed prior to the pics above. Your riparium plants look better than mine!! what's your secret?

I need to update my pics since I moved the planters to the right side and my breeder box to the left. I did another trim and had some additions, but I will post a pic maybe tonight after work.

Yeah I got my new light fixture, its not as high mounted as I would like yet cuz the tank is suppose to move locations once we get a new TV. So I have it rigged with the T5 mounted about 5-6" above the surface with the LED mounted above the riparium planters.

Secret I guess to the riparium plants is patients haha. Only thing I have done differently is stopped doing water changes as frequently as I was doing.

Riparium plants LOVE high light. You'll start seeing much better growth once you get those t5ho's. What bulbs you planning on getting? I like that GLO fixure... I have one on my 40B farm tank.

I've used Geissman Aquaflora x Midday combo and have also used GE Starcoats with great results. There's others who can attest to other brands but you can't go wrong with the ones I listed.

From your photos and knowledge from your tanks, I'll go with your word. I looked into getting the Geissman bulbs, just haven't pulled the trigger. Wife's not happy with the amount I've been spending on the tank so gonna have to take it easy for a little bit.

Been a while since I've been on and made a post. Here is an updated shot of the tank. Think some pressurised CO2 is gonna be needed since I've been battling thread algae like no ones business.


Finally got some berried shrimp too. Here is a shot of one of the pretty ladies.

Your tank looks really nice! Before you took out the driftwood, did it have a large effect on PH? Do you dose ferts? I just started seeing thread algae starting to form into my moss wall.
