Best Meds for Ich

I have been treating my 46g bowfront with AP Quickcure for about two weeks now and just started to add salt (1 tsp per 10 g) two days ago. I have a school of 23 black neon tetra and 1 angel, 3 otos and 1 SAE. I started the quickcure treatment with the temperature at 82, now it is at 86-87 F. My black neon seem to got a little bit better after I add some salt to the tank two day ago. Should I continue with Quickcure and perform 20 % WC between treatment and add some salt OR should I switch Medication? If I should switch med, which one would you recommend? I have a Petco and Petsmart and Pristine aquarium near me (family owned) if that help. My angel seem to be unaffected by the ich. Everyone is eating and swimming around, sometime even schooling.

Seems like you are doing the right thing. Are you cleaning the substrate during the water change? I've read good UV sterilizers and diatom filters might help.

My personal experience, I moved affected fish to a hospital tank, treated them with seachem dechlorinator (which has the stress coat), did 90% water changes in the 2.5 gallon for about 3-5 days and the ick was gone, as far as the main tank, I just did 80% water change and never had a problem. This is what has worked for me.

I used Coppersafe and 82 degree water. The 2 tetras that showed ick were removed. They were covered with it. One angel showed signs but all fish are doing well now.

I have always successfully treated ich by just raising the temp to 86 for two weeks. My fish never had any ill effects from the elavated temperature, and i have all different kinds.

I prefer Kordon Ich-Attach, the regular one, not the herbal/natural one. Follow the instructions and hope for the best.

Do you know what originally caused ich to occur? Usually it happens when fish are stressed, or come in with new fish that weren't quarantined first.

Good news guys, the ich is almost completely wipe out. After I added 1tsp of salt per 10g to my tank and continue with 50 drops of quickcure, the tetra improved greatly. Now only a few white dots are left.

Dont let not seeing white spots going away fool you though. They could of popped, and the ich could be free swimming. Just be careful of assuming your almost in the clear just yet. All too often i've seen people think it was over, they turn down the temp, do a water change, and a week later BAM its back :P Ich is a PITA. So glad in 20 years i've only dealt with it twice personally.
