i have had my 46 gallon for 6 months roughly and its been a puzzle thats for sure. i started out with cheap plastic. moved up to a low tech planted. realized my lighting is considered med-high so now i am diving head first into a hightech planted tank with co2 and good light.
i originally used the WPG and thats what screwed me over. According to that im 1.6 WPG, however, with my aquaticlife T5-HO 2x39W im in a par of about 90. thats 2 bulbs roughly 25" away from my substrate. Oh well, im happy with my current setup.
hooked up my co2 on thursday and im keeping an eye on things. fish seem ok and im about 1.9 bubbles per second. i had to 1 per second but drop checker didnt change and stayed blue. so i increased co2 and 30 minutes before lights out it started to change to green. i am running a Milwaukee reg with solenoid and bubble counter. followed instructions and it seems very stable. low pressure at 10psi which is what they say to set it at and use needle valve for adjustments. the needle valve is very sensitive though
i made my own 4DKH an tested it with my api kh test kit. as soon as 4th drop goes in the water goes yellow. thats close enough for me and will do for my tank.
also ordered the micro/macro mix from aquariumfertilizer.com and will dose according to the EI. however, does anyone know if the dosing is for the week or does it measure each dose? its telling me to dose almost 8.6g to acheive 7.5 ppm. or do i split that into three seperate doses?
