Score! Two free used fluval edge 6gal! Thoughts on cycling.

So I got two free fluval edge tanks. One I plan to move my OEBT into and the other I will put my crystal red shrimp in.

The tanks have not been up and running for two months. I used tank water and decorations from an already established tank. Also I used filter floss from an established tank.

How long would you run these tanks before you put shrimp in them? Since the water, filter floss, and decoration are already established I'm not sure that my parameters are true or if they will change in the coming weeks.

And opinions and thought are welcome. Here's a couple pics.

Kh 1
Gh 3
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10ppm
Temp 70
Tds 134 for both tanks.

Excellent! If I may ask, how for free? Did you win a local RAOK of some sort? Wow! I'm jeolous! Lol.

If its all established I say a good 2 weeks would be nice. Can't really go long with it getting older since most shrimps like aged water and aged tanks anyhow

Awesome score!!! Two weeks should be good enough for some good biofilm growth. I am so jealous.

What kind of substrate are you using in the tanks?? Check for ammonia before adding any shrimp.

Default Score! Two few fluval edge 6gal!

Thank you very much.

Yeah I will keep an eye out for an ammonia spike for two weeks and If I don't see anything ill add the shrimp. I wish my wife thought it was as nice as all of you lol! It's the 3rd tank in our bedroom.

I know the normal cycle but I just wonder how to decide its ready with all of the already cycled stuff I've added.

I'm using fluval substrate.

A good friend of mine got a new big tank and said he couldn't take care of all three tanks and just gave them to me. They are used. They had some guppies and plattys in them. No plants or anything like that.

if you can find some pure ammonia put in about 1.5-2mm daily for to feed the bacteria, it also helps to crank the heat up to 78-80 ish.. should help cycle it a bit quicker

I have no heat in the tank. I don't plan on heating them until I put the shrimp in. Ill look into the ammonia. Where can I find that. Couldn't I just put some mollies in there? They make a lot of waste?

Here are a couple pics since i did some scaping. I'm hoping the java fern attached to the wood will recover. It's from another tank and was hidden and suffering.
