pacific has a good selection... usually for $$
Win is pretty good too, but their plants may come with algae and what not... Petco in Union square actually sells a variety of beginner plants... what are you looking for exactly? |

i agree pacific is probably the best bet in the city. if you're willing to take a trip to NJ, Ridgewood Aquarium Imports had tons of plant variety, and alot of ADA swag, and really nice ADA display tanks. I live in midtown west, and it was about a 30 min drive.

I think to get the best variety, you will have to travel out to LI.

I suggest rubbing shoulders with other local aquarists and inviting yourself over to their home :X LOL! Especially for hard to find plants like Anubia petite. I didn't really learn to appreciate half the plants in the hobby til I saw them well-grown by others.

for LFS, i'd say Pacific has been consistently getting stocking some interesting varieties.
Not in the city but Pets warehouse (both carle place and copaigue) occassionally stock interesting things but they generally focus on ferns, crypts and easy stems like cabomba and anacharis. Most of their potted plants come from a florida nursery. I heard much hype about the copaigue store and was not so impressed when i went there. Honestly, I have more fun looking at Joraan's tanks. There are some local hobbyists that have kept species in fantastic shape and form so offering to purchase may score you something beautiful that normally isnt available at retail in the area.
