Just joined, check out my evolve 8

Been lurking for a while to get info for my planted tank, just joined today to share my progress. As mentioned in the title, it's an aqueon evolve 8 which i ended up getting for around $50 (with the use of some sales, coupons and/or magic..

) Originally got it all set up to start cycling and about 2 weeks in decided to rescape and change the substrate in the process.

Let me know what you think! still looking for fauna ideas, can't decide between inverts/fish. Also, before someone yells at me for it, I will be upgrading the light VERY soon.

I have two of these and the light works great for low tech. Looks great!

Looking real good. I am thinking of getting a 4 or 8. Do you run a heater in this tank if so which one? Keep up the good work!

i would def. suggest the 8, the actualy tank space in the 4 is VERY small. Not running a heater currently

Don't worry too much about the light, mine grows everything in the tank with no problems. It's not bright enough for high tech, but it works just fine for normal growth

Great work on the tank, I had an aqueon 8, but moved it to an eheim aquastyle 9.2. love your work. nice job!!!

thanks everyone, glad I'm not the only 1 who likes it.. This is my first attempt at a planted tank and would like to think i'm off to a good start.

Still cant decide on the fish yet.. any suggestions for a tank this size?

Just wanted to add a few new pics.. Moved a few things around and did some trimming. Also added a second light, i may be changing the fixture or replacing the stock LED with another aluminum clip-on CFL lamp. Still no fish besides the ottos :/

I am torn between a 4 and an 8 for my desk at work. The 8 seems like it would be pushing it for my desk, especially a cube. Recangle I could easily do an 8.

its not THAT big, especially when compared to the desk space required for the 4, the 8 is around 12x12. Mine is actually on my desk at my office. Either way, i think the evolve tanks are GREAT. Really have no complaints about mine, except for not being able to find more specs on the light (which has been able to GROW everything in my tank).

That is going to look even more great when it grows out! Whatever fish you put in there is going to love the exploring! What is that stem plant in the front right corner?

Have you done any modifications to the sump?

Nice set up.

I have an Evolve4 beginning its cycle now on my desk. I really like it, but feel the light isn't up to snuff for my plants. I've added a desk lamp to it as well. Good luck with your tank!
