LFS Visit - CB's Aquarium/The Tropical Hut
CB's Aquarium is on 181st and Burnside. It is part freshwater and part saltwater. No noticeable plants for sale. I don't do saltwater, so no comment about that part. Freshwater prices were atypical. That's about all I'll say about it.
The Tropical Hut is down on inner SE Division. Small number of plants for sale, a really large selection of Axolotls for some reason. All tanks were individually filtered with a HOB, a few tanks were "not for sale/in observation", a few tanks maybe should have been but were not. Big, super active tank of kuhli loaches, still really like those fish and there was something charming about the enormous swarm of them. There must have been a deal on White tip tetras or something because all the stores I've visited lately had a bumper crop of them. This place had a few tanks marked down, the white tips are one of them. Couple corys, albinos and pandas, IIRC. Lots of different plecos, no albino bristlenose for sale (tank in observation). |

Planted Tank Obsessed
|
The one time I went to the Tropical Hut convinced me never to return. When I went in, the tanks were in HORRIBLE shape and many of their fish were sick. Hope they've improved things but this was just about 2 months ago. Poor Tarantulas were kept in tiny containers. I will never, ever purchase anything from there. I just walked out.
