brown algae?

lately i have had a problem with my pre filter for my hob filter that i have.
after a day or 2 it will end up getting clogged up with brown algae. (i am assuming it is brown algae because when i squeeze it in a bucket of water. the water turns brown. i could be wrong.)
this just recently started happening. i don't know what I'm doing wrong so if anyone has any ideas and advice please let me know!

Are you sure it isnt just debris? Can you post a picture?

yes i am sure it is not debris cause the filter itself have brown algae inside it.. and I've had this tank for at least 10 months now.
it should of done it sooner right?
and okay i will take a picture tomorrow
