Dosing Flourish Ferts Questions
Hi. So I am still learning about fertilizers and I'm going to keep using Flourish for now because it's easier...but I haven't gotten the NPK fertilizers yet (I didn't know comprehensive was just trace elements until yesterday). If my tank already has nitrates (normally 30-40ppm) do I still dose nitrogen? I also need to figure out a real dosing schedule. I have a 20l tank with two 13-watt 6500k CFLs for lighting, and just set up the DIY CO2. Right now I am dosing 1ml Flourish Comprehensive every 2-3days and 1ml Flourish Iron everyday. I assume this is wrong. Any help with figuring out an accurate dosing schedule for Flourish would be appreciated

Hi, i recently changed from seachem flourish ferts to dry ferts and i have to say in just 1 week i have noticed a difference. For me it was a big step as i had no experience in any of the "powdered chemicals" i was putting in my tank, but after reading up about it a few hours one night i figured it was'nt all that hard and a heck of a lot cheaper !
If you google "seachem dosing chart" they have a PDF file you can open and it gives you the dosing schedules, hope this helps.

I use all seachem products in my planted aquarium. I found a lot of info from the Seachem website.
http://www.seachem.com/Home/index.html There is a dosing chart available. http://www.seachem.com/support/PlantDoseChart.pdf It is a good jumping off point. I used it as a guideline and then made adjustments based on the health of the plants. I made an xls worksheet to convert the dosing values for my bow front tank. There is also a chart that describes plant health http://www.seachem.com/support/Flour..._Deficency.pdf I also invested in a testing kit. Let me know if this is helpful. |

You can usually obtain dry chemicals from hydroponics stores and/or agricultural stores.
There are some users that also sell these chemicals (check the For sale subsection).

I'm still confused. So I DO dose nitrogen even with higher nitrates?
Also, which forum sponsor sells dry ferts? |

I buy ferts from here: http://greenleafaquariums.com/
They also have dosing information available using a couple different methods.

My 46G bowfront holds about 35G of water and is heavily loaded with fish and I add nitrogen, 30mL/week to maintain +/- 20ppm.
Nitrogen deficient (stunted growth, Chlorosis, affects the whole plant) How many gallons of water does your tank hold after filling with rocks and decor? Here is Seachems recommended dosing schedule. Seachem Plant Dosing Chart.pdf |

my nitrate is always over 20 lol. I am just going to do potassium and phosphorous for now. When the bottles run out I think I am going to get dry ferts from green leaf aquarium.
