Has anyone tried a simple saltwater shrimp tank?

the main reason for chillers is due to the heat the lights put out that are needed for coral.

The question that would seem to be most logical after this is...are there any saltwater shrimp that breed readily in aquariums?

Excellent question. There are many that will breed, but the larvae difficult to feed.

The only one I found so far that will breed readily is the fire shrimp. Are you aware of others, Rob?

I did a 2.5 gallon reef with one Shrimp. I had an aquaclear 70 on the back that i grew macro algae in. It was pretty stable, I just had to add water every day.

He was pretty happy...molted several times. I took the tank down before we went on vacation, because it was a little much to ask of the person taking care of my stuff.

That's really only the case when using MH lighting. T5 and now the popularity of LED...heat from lights really isn't an issue.

If and when I have the room, I always wanted to do a small SW tank with a Scarlet Cleaner shrimp or two. I'm glad to see people thinking along the same lines.

I like small tanks.... I am thinking about converting my chi to salt. My 20 (not real small) has a cpr hob refugium and a small skimmer. That tank is real stable for is size.
Maybe it's because I am a freshwater planted guy, but I am convinced that growing macro algae is the key to an easy Saltwater system.
