Anyone know anything about this light?

We have this exact setup and have been having a lot of green water issues. The tank is NOT planted, just a thin layer of aquarium gravel and a few mollies and fake plants. The tank was even completely torn down and restarted and still the same problem. I'm thinking the light is too powerful so we've cut down to just a few hours a day and have partially blocked some of the leds. This seems to be helping. Just wanted to see what you guys thought. Seems odd to me that this tank would be sold as a freshwater tank and include lighting that is too powerful.

Have you tested your water for phosphates? Is your tank near a window? How often, and how much are your water changes? I know nothing about the light, but algae in the water volume isn't good.

Its the Marineland Double Bright LED fixture it looks like. Should find plenty info under the Lighting section.

Is the tank cycled? You will get algae without frequent water changes since nothing is using up the nutrients in the water. Load that tank up with java fern and you'll be golden.

If the tank is not planted than use only the light when you need to look at the tank. The light is there just for viewing/enjoying purposes. That will reduce the algae you have.

As for the fishes they are fine with the daylight from the room.

I have not seen any led setups yet that I would use.....Call me old fashion, but I like the coralife t-5 6700k day light blubs. I use two on a 25 gal tank and does the job for me...
I also use the Fluval cfl lights on my 3 other tanks that are 8 gal each.

Shut the light off for about a week and the algae will likely go away. The weird thing is it probably won't return when you start using the light again.

There are many out there that would exceed ur expectations to be sure.. many that are even reef capable..
The double bright isnt too bright, but it will require good husbandry of the tank to keep thingslooking nice,
Ammonia is the number one cause of algae, a properly cycled, and sized filter for a tank will prevent many algae problems
