First post: Jacksonville Area Fish Club?
Hey Ya'll. I am inquiring about local enthusiasts around my area. I moved back home to Jacksonville a year ago and am looking for a local fish club. If there isnt one, I am looking to get together with like minded people to start one! Any interest out there?

I was wondering the same thing. I work in a pet store on University Blvd but I don't really come across that many plant enthusiasts. Believe me, I talk half the people's ears off in the fish departments about plants and try to get them started on things like Anubias and Java moss and most people just want to stick with plastic because they think live plants are too time consuming. Being a student and working retail I don't really have the cash to travel to Orlando for meets. Shame because it's always something I've been interested in. I ordered a Co2 system and with tax returns coming in soon, I plan on upgrading my lighting system. I'm sure I will have some Vals to trade in a few months if you are interested. Right now they are transitioning and look very sad.

Feel free to check out the Facebook page, and remember that a few of us down here in O-Town offer shipping so you don't have to make the drive

Brand new to Planted Tank.com, Semi-versed Aquarium Girl. I am here in Jacksonville Beach! I am looking to get a better handle on my plants and raise Cherries, and my CPDS.

Seems that there is almost enough Jax interest to have a quorum.
I'm over on the Westside, and would love to start doing some local stuff. I would kill to find someone locally with MTS for sale. XD |

I would steer clear of MTS, they'll overpopulate and are messy things- stick with assassins and nerites, they breed slower. As for being new to the hobby, welcome and too bad you aren't in the Orlando area! I still encourage you to join the facebook group so you can keep up with the other Floridians and sometimes there are exciting things for sale.

Since I posted, I have found Jacksonville area club "North FLorida Fish Keepers". Headed by Mike and Steph J. They have a facebook as well. I will be liking the Orlando one as well as a two hour drive for fish is nothing to me.

Interested!
I'm in The Saint Nicholas/San Marco area, near downtown. If there were a club, though, I'd drive just about anywhere in the city or surrounding area. :-) |

The meeting area is either in the Orange Park/Oakleaf area or at Exotic Aquatics who sponsor them over on Phillips Highway.
