What is your experience with/ opinions of...
This type of heater:
http://www.amazon.com/Fluval-E-300-W...ZXEC05V4&psc=1 and this type of water changer (vs. python brand): http://www.amazon.com/Aqueon-Aquariu...V24A1POR&psc=1 Been thinking about upgrading my heater (older heater, I want to replace before it breaks on me) and buying an auto water changer. I've used the python brand before and LOVED it but they are a bit pricey. Any comments on these brands? Thanks!

No advice in the heater but the water changer is nice. I like it a lot but the only thing that could be better is the plastic sink attachment - it tends to break if you're too rough with it. Just be gentle and it'll last a while.

I like the heater, however, I find it underpowered. Get a size bigger if you plan on getting one.

I have that heater, sometimes it does weird things, but unplugging it for an hour fixes it. I've had mine for about a year and now I cannot change the temp setting, but that's ok.
Always get a heater a size bigger than what your tank is, you might need it one day for a freak cold spell or something. As for water changer, I made my own, so can't help you with store bought stuff. Is that one of those where you have to have the faucet running for it to work? If so, that's a massive waste of water and if you pay for your water, your wallet might suffer later.

Do you have a thread anywhere that shows what you made? I'm interested in it...

The heater does "weird things"? Hmm...not sure I want to spend twice as much on something that I have to fenagle with to get it to work properly.
I was actually debating on whether to make my own or buy one, and yes I believe that water changer is where the faucet has to constantly run. I don't pay for water (renter) so the water bill doesn't concern me much. I am also interested in how you made your own and what supplies you used? My husband is wanting to make our own because we don't want to drop $80 on one
