Help for new lighting fixture

Hello everyone!

Demon Knifefish here. I've been wanting to change my aquarium hood lately since the lighting is seemingly unacceptably low (one t8 bulb with low-high light plants). The plants seem to be growing very slowly and I've considered t5 lights; however, my tank is one of those weird acrylic ones that is 40" by 12" by 18". Is there any good lighting system that's SOMEWHAT AFFORDABLE that can fit the size?
