Imagine, being that guy, paying like three hundred to swim with manta rays on your vacation, and then being able to have a moment like that? pure communication, understanding and compassion...Thats priceless.

That was such a touching video - I imagine the diver was very nervous about trying to cut the line with a knife, and not accidentally nick the dolphin as it moved. There were a few times when I thought his hand was shaking (from nerves, no doubt). Kudos to him for helping. Thanks for sharing that...

I doubt that nicking the dolphin was a problem. Looks like he had already been cut by the fishing line.

RANT: I have such a crazy headache from my bedside tank. Ive got 8ppm ammonia, which from my thread, ive gathered is actually ammonium, and non harmful. But how did i get the ammonium, when i was showing ammonia last week? Im so confused, and frustrated, im about to throw the damned thing out the window.
Theres so much crap going on in my life right now, my tanks are pretty much the only thing keeping me going.
I just want safe readings and to not have to go and buy a 'free ammonia' test kit.

*sigh* I feel like crying right now.

Ammonia and ammonium both show on most chem kits. Don't stress over it, at one point I had over 10ppm ammonium with DISCUS and had no signs of stress at all. If you're really worried throw some prime in, otherwise just sit back and wait for it to be broken down, it's doing no harm!

If it's frustrating you that badly then maybe you SHOULD get the test that will tell ammonia vs ammonium. I got the Seachem test off Amazon for under $20. Is your piece of mind worth $20?

Rave: thanks guys for the advice! I'm waiting for payday and I'm gonna buy on of the specific ammonia tests..I was just really overwhelmed, thanks for being there!

RANT: my dad was admitted to the hospital. See, he's an almost ten year cancer survivor, he lost a lung to it, and still suffers from COPD and chronic bronchitis, that froze up the bottom part of his remaining lung. So really, hes only got 3/4ths of a lung.
Last month he had a horrible infection in his lung, and had to go on oxygen, which he always swore he'd never have to do.
Yesterday he was readmitted, cause he's still having complications..I'm super worried, but he says its all gonna be okay...he's a tough guy, but it's still so stressful! My mom isn't handling it well either..

Thanks graphic. =] He came home a few hours ago, all hopped up on albuterol and steroids. Lol.
He's got his treatment plan, and he's gonna be great!

RAVE; I am having trouble figuring out where to set up all my tanks (I live in a relatively small place). Turns out a coworker of mine used to have an aquarium, got rid of it, now - years later - she and her husband are thinking about getting another because they miss having one. Since I was so fortunate to get my 125 on the cheap, I told her I would give her a complete 40B set up if they want it, free. Tank, glass top, lights, cabinet stand, heaters, filters, gravel, you get the idea. I'm usually broke but I've benefited so much from RAOKs and the nearly free 125 that it makes me feel so good to "play it forward" as they say, rather than sell it to someone. I hope they decide they want it, I would be so pleased...good karma in, good karma out - it needs to balance! lol

Another RAVE; the friend I jokingly quoted as saying about my snails "you put them in there on purpose?!? Has actually asked me if she could have some of my snails when she gets her 55g tank going. She's come around to the idea of them (ramshorns) being beneficial, not creepy. Woo-hoo!
