Shrimp system 56K
OK so I have been playin with this for a while. I have a 15 gal tank with cherry and crystal shrimp, and the time has come to expand.
I had this acrylic tank made this week. ![]() It comes out to about 22 gallons or just over 7 gallons per section. ![]() This is getting installed under my current 15 gal shrimp tank . ![]() The other night I decided to try a small strip of LEDs on the back.... WOW!! ![]() Tonight was setup night... I got another 20 lbs of black Eco Complete ![]() I actually filled it through one of my sponge filters, and the water stayed almost perfectly clear!!! ![]() So everything is setup and I have tiger shrimp in the middle section, and green shrimp on the right... getting bumble bees for the left side, and Orange dwarf Mexican crayfish for the top tank next week. ![]() In case you didn't figure it out.... I LOVE the way the LEDs look LOL

nice settup. Is the shrimp tank completely separate compartments or does the water seep from tank to tank?

It is completely sealed. I had 3 5 gallon tanks that I was going to use, But I think this looks much better. Besides the top rims on the 5s really blocked my light. I am hoping to get some breeding going.

$50.... but I had to silicone it myself. That included the lid as well. I am pretty sure I want MORE.

so $50 for the chucks pre-cut? what thickness?
If you do a new one try using methyl chloride instead of silicone. It will "weld" the seams and make nice crisp clear edges

1/4 inch... cut and glued, a buddy did it for me. I did the silicone to be safe. It is kinda thin for that size tank, but with the dividers ... it didn't flex at all.

Go cholla, malaysian, or manzanita. Mopani may rot and give you some filmy stuff. It also smells like pure death if you let it sit in water.

Well i caved..... I am getting a second tank made... It is just too perfect. It should be ready this week. Got a larger air pump, and ordered more sponge filters.
The system will be pretty cheap to run. 2 x 14 watt t5s, 2 led panels, 7.5 watt air pump. I also have a 2.5 watt 35gph filter/ power head in each section. I don't really need them, with the 20 gallon rated sponge filters, but i like the water movement. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |
