Java Moss Wall
So.... I found directions online to make a Java Moss wall using Java Moss, plastic mesh and suction cups. It gave no information on time frame for the moss to start growing through the mesh.... I've had it done and in the tank for almost a week now and I haven't noticed it growing yet...

Java moss doesn't grow like normal plants. While you aren't looking the mass suddenly gets larger. Waiting and watching won't help it. Ignoring it until it's past time to trim it works best. At least for me.
That said, I don't see any moss on the screen. |

The moss is between two pieces of the mesh.... it's under the top/front layer. This is what holds it in place and keeps it from floating away.

The clear pipes on each side of the tank are old school HOB heaters.... I'm still waiting for our new heater to arrive. I was lucky enough to find a submersible heater that has the controls on the outside of the tank..right on the cord!

I've been wanting to do this on my back wall as well. From what I've seen on directions, the best technique is to spread the moss around the in small patches across the entire mesh. It seems to grow a little better and you should see faster results.
Looks like you'll have to get some more or do what Steven_P says or incubate it in a dedicated container. What kind of mesh did you use? I've been looking at http://www.papermart.com/Product%20P...tGroupID=19024 |

I had good luck growing java moss horizontally for a number of weeks which helped it grow quicker and then hanging it.
