Rio+ 50 is noisy!
Since I just broke the impeller shaft of my filter, I decided to use a Rio+ 50 powerhead in the meantime to create some water movement. It's the first time I use it, and man is this thing noisy! In my reef I had powerheads 10 times more powerful that you wouldn't hear beside this one.
I'm just very amazed at the noise it makes, I can't imagine someone having one for regular use in his aquarium. I have 2 of these Rio+ 50 and both are noisy so it can't be a defect... |

I use rio's, they were the smallest and less obtrusive powerhead in most of my aquariums to create surface agitation. No noise from them. Maybe the little rubber boot that sits on the end of the impeller came off allowing the impeller to move around...?

another thing to try i've noticed with smaller rio's
unplug them and plug them back in if they are noisy, sometimes they take a few jolts to get into a proper rythem

Sounds like there was something lodged in the pump from sitting and has worked its way out
