One of my cherry females is currently tailless thanks to hunkering down in some HC I was trimming. Snip snip, waved my hand to work the trimmings loose--and out came a perfect littled red fan. Last molt it looked like she'd grown a smidge back and she's obviously doing well as she's berried now--but I still feel a little stab of guilt when I see her.

Default Re: I cut my amano shrimps head off!

I'm so sorry! I haven't trimmed my out of control moss "tree" for this exact reason. Now I know it really does happen!

"Don't run around like an amano with your head cut off"

Or would that be "Swim around" LOL

Sorry to hear about that, but I couldn't resist.

I had to get the body out before the fish would start to snack on it and then develop a taste for my shrimp. That amano was huge too, now that I think of how many times he molted in my tank, its a sad day.

Damn shrimp just dont move even when I brush up the plants, even when closing millimeters away from them, they just look at you.
Have you tried to perform CPR and later perform a surgery to attach his head? LOL

I did the same thing to an otto. It bummed me out for a couple days. Sorry to hear your experience. I hope it doesent happen again. Someone told me once that for sick fish with no chance of survival he would place them in a ziplock bag and into the freezer hoping they just fall asleep and freeze.

Default I cut my amano shrimps head off!

That's really unfortunate :/ I only work in micro tanks, and the worst I've done is drop a rock on a shrimp in moving.

Fortunately he made it out 30 mins later.

I've seen headless shrimp in my filter tho. It is a sad thing.
