surface skimmer question?

I really want to get a Toms or Fluval surface skimmer, only thing my tank is in my bedroom.

Are these noisy or are they pretty quiet? I've had those HOB surface skimmers used on saltwater sumps, and they are loud, but they also seem to move a lot more water than the little ones I'm looking at.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thank you! That seems to be the answer I got on our local forum as well.

I've used the Fluval. Works great and there is no noise.

The skimmer you've seen and heard on a saltwater tank is not a surface skimmer, it's a protein skimmer. It's doing something completely different than skimming the surface film in the tank.
