Light n CO2
I was just wondering if my lights are too close to the water in my tanks?
Also if I take the bubble counter off my DIY CO2 mix system will it kill my plants, this is the only way to get it into the tank without buying a regulator and co2 tank setup? http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6cb2771c.jpg http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0a82bf42.jpg http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps917e0ef7.jpg Last edited by newbieplanter; 01-26-2013 at 01:11 AM.. Your lights are fine as long as water isn't splashing onto the bulbs. I'm confused about the CO2 question though. Why would you need to take off the bubble counter? And why would doing that kill the plants?

so I took it off and now it's comin through the diffuser/airstone in the tank. I tried so many times an only one time it came through fully but then over flowed into the counter I poured out some of the mix an all the water in the counter refilled the counter and then nothing so I did the same mix an didn't include the counter. I was worried the alcohol it creates would kill the plants. |

Sorry but I'm still confused about your counter ordeal. I don't know what kind of bubble counter you were using but I just use a gatorade bottle filled with water. Just drill two holes into the cap. The tubing from the generator goes down into the 3/4 filled bottle below the waterline, then another length of tubing starting above the waterline (at or directly below the cap) to the diffuser. I use a check valve at both sections of tubing. You just need to make sure it's airtight. It helps if you drill the holes slightly smaller than the tubing diameter and force the tubing through with pliers.
