i hear t-316 is the one to work with in aquaria due to its corrosion prohibitive properties... the lesser t-304 just has a lesser % of the alloy which affects corrosion underwater.

I have used both 304 and 316 in my shrimp tanks without any problems, neither have rusted on me. I currently only use 316 just because people say its better.

None of 304 is ok to use... especially ones with special coating. even some of the plastic ones has PVC coating. if you want hassle free go with 316 plain finish.
PVC is useless without the addition of a plethora of toxic additives, which can make the PVC product itself harmful to consumers. These chemicals can evaporate or leach out of PVC, posing risks to your fish tank. Pure PVC itself is not harmful, or else I would imagine they would not use it as residential water pipes (from which some households would get their drinking water from). However, some types of additives are questionable in regards to safety. please keep in mind those SS Mesh are made for industrial purpose. not mainly for aquarium. |
