Any 12" HIGH light fixtures out there?

What do you mean by 12 inches high? What length do you want it to be?

I am looking for high light fixture for a tank that is 12" wide by 12" tall so something that does at least 60 par at the substrate I suppose (give or take since the subtrate is 2").

I am confused with your measurements. there are 3 measurements. Length that is like left to right when looking at it. Then Depth which is like front to back then height which is bottom to top.

The most important to find out if it is big enough is length then height of the tank equats to how bright the light will be at the substrate level.

The tank is 10" from the substrate to the surface. The tank from left to right is 12" so I need a fixture that is approximately 12" long.

I have the fuge and it is considered medium light I suppose although judging by the growth of my pygmy chain swords I would say low light as quite a few of the leaves shoot out 6" up into the tank from the bottom.

You could buy a reflector like: http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-...specifications and put a 15 to 25 watt 6500K CFL bulb in it. You can get from low to high light with that, depending on how high you have it above the top of the tank.

What if I were to get 2-3 of those hagen 13watt cfl lamp like this: http://www.amazon.com/Fluval-Mini-Po.../dp/B004QSV8XK

Not enough par? The problem I have with your suggestion is that is pretty darn ugly and this is in a room where other people have to look at the tank and will freak if I put that on it.

Three of those would cost over $100. But, I suspect it would work for low light. Those don't have effective reflectors, as far as I can tell. http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=3569157 can be made to look very good by hanging them from a single bent conduit hanger bar.

where do you get one of those from? It's very hard for me to believe there are no small fixtures out there available that wont cost an arm and a leg and will not break the bank.
