Any carnivorous growers?

Just started a small emersed set up. High humidity 90% plus, temps atm 16c at night - 20c day. Soil slightly acidic. Anything for a carnivorous plant noob like me? Was looking at VFT but not sure if suitable?

keep them moist and dont touch them. my experience with carnivorous plants is that they thrive on neglect and hate to be messed with.

Venus flytraps need a cold dormancy each year so they would be unsuitable for a terrarium. How wet is it going to be and what is your substrate? You could try some utricularia species.

i think you could get venus fly traps to work if you kept them in a pot that you could remove every year... i know of some people who do that with other plants. i dont see why it wouldnt work for flytraps and pitcher plants.

I keep them just as potted plants
hopefully I am doing this whole winter dormancy thing right for the flytraps and the non-tropical pitchers I have

I could of course just keep them next to the aquarium as the light is 2ft and the tank is a 1ft cube. The soil in the tank is nutrient rich and the water is straight from the tap. Yeah, I'll think I'll do that!

Some small sundews and maybe a pitcher, have found a good site with care tips etc.

Most carnivorous plants don't do well in nutrient rich soils. Also, before you use your tap, check your TDS. I wouldn't use tap water if it's above 100ppm.

Would definitely be using rainwater, my tap water is rock hard.
