first planted tank and my plants arrived frozen im hoping to save them
what is this strange growth on this grass only one sprig doesnt have it |

Looks like thread (hair) algae. Thrives where leaves are breaking down, leaching nutrients and feeding the algae. Or so I hear... :-)

no it won't excatly kill the plant, since those leaves look like they are already dead.

hmm i hope they are not dead that was only one day after shiping ! they did freeze in the mail but havent went dark yet !
roots looked good! i am getting co2 very soon as well |

give it a while. Ive had vals in winter 40F ish water. they can spring back to life

i sure hope so ! and it was close to zero when i pulled them out of the mailbox ! the heat pack was even frozen !!

vals can be pretty tough, i should have clarifed my statement to say that the leaves look dead, they vary well could recover. did you notify that shipper about it?

i will be ive been very busy i let then thaw in a fishless tank and then placed them asap !

vals need to be planted with the crown (the part the roots connect to) slightly above the substrate. I'd snip off all but one leaf then replant them shallower, so they can have a fighting chance..

thanks for the info i dont think i will uproot them but i will pull them up and out a little !
ive placed hoods from two of my 5g tanks on the sides of my edge to give them some better lighting for now as well ! seems to be helping |

Leaving them floating is probably the best option really.
