pleco guru?
DO we have any pleco gurus on this forum? If I posted a picture of a L200 green phantom can anyone here try to tell which species it is? I am trying to get colony of them, going but there are two fish under the L200 label and i can't decide for sure which one the seller has. I will be honest I will be using this as a second opinion. thanks

There's 3 variants of the green pleco. You mentioned one of its names. A pic is needed for sure.

Well tech there's 3 that get sold as it. The green phantom - lemon spotted - green pleco. All 3 have been known to be sold as a green or green phantom. : )
That one is definitely a l200 high fin green "phantom" pleco

So you are referring to the common names which is not too helpful at all unfortunately. Is this fish baryancistrus or hemiancisteus is what I need to know.

The picts on aquabid are not close ups so its tough to tell. I'd lean toward hemiancisteus, but not sure at all.
Have you tried planetcatfish.com?

lol yup I have this is actually my second opinion since the more I stare at it he more I start leaning towards the barys. I think it is more wishful thinking then anything else. WIll give up on that group and keep on searching. Every one has the hemis. Just can't find the barys.

However this guy has a bary with the correct spotting, but it's hard to see the olive green. http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/aucti...shp&1358927403 http://www.petzonesd.com/l200-green-phantom-pleco/ http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1833 http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1834 You can read about the differences there. But the short version is that the dorsal and adipose fin of Baryancistrus demantoides are connected by a membrane.

Thanks for the input. The link you posted I think is also a hemiancisteus too I had contacted the seller. This search has been harder then expected
